Halifax Caravan park- Nelson Bay

Long Weekend June 5th to June 9th 2015

We took an extra two days to make it easier for travelling to and from Nelson Bay due to the heavy traffic on these weekends.  Being in winter we were not thinking there would be many people in the caravan park how wrong we were.  It seems everyone loves the beach areas no matter the time of the year.

Gil and I were very happy with Halifax Caravan Park  it is secured with a boom gate, all gates around the park need a code to get in and out of the park, dump point, amenities were excellent old but very clean this is all we need, park is very clean Shoal Bay beach one side and Little Beach the other could not ask for more, we would recommend this park to all.

Friday 5th June we arrived around midday, left after peak hour to void the worst traffic on Pennant Hills Road and had an excellent trip to Nelson Bay.  We did some initial setting up then had lunch, back to further setting up our annex.  We debated about taking the annex with us due to the short stay but we needed more experience in putting the annex up and this time we made a good job of it compared to our last two efforts, we are happy now we have overcome our problems.  After setting up and having a short rest we went for a walk around the caravan park.  There is a large BBQ area very nicely laid out near the campers, marked sites for caravans etc., all garbage bins were in a designated area near the entrance.

Shoal Bay beach is a beautiful beach w we walking around at sunset just magnificent the sun was reflecting off the buildings and the beach across the bay and little beach is a great swimming area, with a boat ramp and lots of pelicans
