Salamander Bay 2006

Salamader Bay February 2006  (20 to 23/02/2006)

This was a lovely trip to Port Stephens which we took on a package deal and included family.
We obtained two holiday apartments at the Colonial Ridge Retreat

at Salamander Bay they were excellent plenty of room two bedrooms, kitchen and living area with wonderful verandahs, garden and swimming pool this is approx 2.5hrs from Sydney.
On our way up the north coast we called into Newcastle for a quick break and have a look around.
We stopped along the foreshore near Nobbys Beach.

Newcastle has a working harbor and is a vibrant and cosmopolitan city it also has some of the best beaches, Merewether, Bar, Newcastle and Nobbys.
The weather had been a little unpleasant some days before and the tractor was out giving the sand on the beach some TLC we had a wonderful walk around then continued on to our destination.

The pool in the retreat was wonderful we had a great time using this we also did some swimming at Nelson Bay and snorkeling

at Fly Point Halifax Reserve

which is ideal for this.

We booked on a dolphin cruise with “Seascape” Dolphin Watch and only saw a few dolphins but the trip was relaxing and enjoyable

We hired a boat to do some exploring ourselves into the bay we made sure we had a canopy on this boat to keep some of the sun off us.

Some early morning sunrises

which are always beautiful no matter where you are in Australia we thoroughly enjoyed this four day trip not having stayed at Port Stephens before it was great.
