Dubbo Zoo Safari Stay 7th t0 8th
April 2006
We would have to say this would be one of
the most spectacular trips we have ever done although it was only two days at
the Dubbo Zoo it was wonderful.
We left home on Thursday 6th
April to stay overnight at Orange so
we would not have such a big drive to Dubbo in one day knowing we had a lot to
cram in on our stay at the zoo.
We
arrived in Orange to find a vintage car meet around Robertson Park, it was great to walk around looking at the old cars
and the park itself is so pretty with autumn trees in magnificent colour.
On Friday 7th April morning we
braved Mt Conobolas
and like all the stories we have been told it was freezing even though the sun was out the wind chill factor was cold but the view from the top was magnificent.

The drive back was equally pretty the
autumn colors in the trees along the streets were picture perfect and Orange is
very pretty at this time of year.
We then headed off to Dubbo unable to get to our lodge until
later in the day we did a car trip around the zoo which was fascinating, it is
a lovely zoo where the animals roam free to a certain extent and are not behind
bars.
this was exciting, better than a motel room, canvas surrounding us, beds, bathroom, heated floor, coffee and teas making facilities and beautiful view we could not ask for more, we put our order in for dinner so it would be ready for us to have before we went on the night tour, then climbed into a mini bus to tour and feed the animals in the afternoon behind the scenes, it was great.
Tours We fed the white rhino,
painted dogs
and the giraffes
wow what long blue tongues the giraffes have, wonderful animals.
We had a beautiful 3 course meal like we were in a first
class restaurant then back in the mini bus for the night tour feeding hippos
,
tortoise
,
red foxes
and more it was such an experience, then back to camp and bed a very full but enjoyable day.

really peaceful.
After
our early morning cuppa off to breakfast then onto another tour to feed tigers
and to see the elephants get cleaned up fed
,
have their feet and nails checked and washed just like a pedicure, as they carry so much weight it is very important their feet are cared for, chimps and to see the newest arrival a baby rhino it was beautiful and very playful, back for morning tea then home.
